Treatment for Patients of All Ages

Early Treatment

The American Association of Orthodontists recommends that a child receives his or her first orthodontic screening by age 7. By starting treatment early, we can recognize potential problems and correct them before they become more severe.

Early interceptive orthodontic treatment has proven to be beneficial for the overall desired result. Because a young child’s permanent teeth have not finished erupting, we’re able to thoroughly evaluate and address any impending or immediate problems, such as potential crowing, overbite, or gummy smiles, at the earliest stage.

Adolescent Treatment

By age 12, most – if not all – permanent teeth have erupted and are in place. This is when crooked teeth, gaps, and irregular bites are more easily detected. These problems will hardly ever correct themselves, so this is when most parents decide to seek orthodontic treatment for their children.

Children at this age are growing rapidly, and orthodontists can usually take advantage of these growth spurts to help correct and shape the bite and teeth.

Adult Treatment

We offer a wide variety of braces to meet the individual needs and desires of each adult patient. By seeking orthodontic treatment as an adult, you can also combat and prevent severe tooth decay, gum and bone loss, irregular wear of the tooth enamel, and TMJ/TMD pain.

Types of Braces

Metal Braces

Metal braces are made of high-quality, durable stainless steel. The brackets, which are bonded to the front of each tooth, are connected by the archwire, which helps guide the teeth into the correct positions. Today’s metal braces are smaller, more comfortable, and more attractive.

Ceramic Braces

Ceramic braces move teeth just as efficiently as metal braces; however, the brackets are clear, so they are less noticeable and more cosmetically appealing.

Clarity™

Clarity braces feature a combination of ceramic and metal, as well as a comfortable design with a translucent appearance. Patients are allowed to engage in most everyday activities without fear of delaying or impeding their progress. These braces are so sturdy that many doctors will recommend them to patients who play sports.

Clear Aligners

Clear aligners are made of durable plastic or acrylic material. They effectively straighten teeth without brackets and wires. Clear aligners are customized, comfortable, and removable.

Retention Treatment

Hawley Retainers

The Hawley retainer is a popular removable retainer that’s designed to keep your teeth in place. It’s made from impressions of your teeth, which allow the retainer to fit snugly and comfortably in the roof of your mouth. Patients can also personalize their acrylic molding with a variety of colors and fun patterns.

Fixed Retainers

Bonded lingual retainers are cemented directly to the inside surface of your lower canines. They’re sturdy, they’re non-visible, and they prevent lower teeth from shifting. Many patients prefer fixed retainers because they’re less susceptible to damage, loss, and they also don’t affect speech.

Essix Retainers

The Essix retainer is a clear, removable retainer that fits over the entire arch of teeth. Essix retainers have no metal wires and are virtually invisible. They are durable, inexpensive, and easy to wear. Because they’re removable, eating, drinking, and cleaning teeth are also easier.
